Lviv Polytechnic hosted the event Formula for Success: Science + Business, which brought together over 40 Ukrainian researchers and business representatives.
The goal of the event is to strengthen cooperation between the scientific community and entrepreneurs, and to support innovative projects that can be scaled up in Ukraine and beyond.
In his welcoming speech, the Director General of the Directorate for Science Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Hryhoriy Mozolevych, emphasized the importance of business participation in scientific innovations, and Olga Polotska, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine
“Although the matchmaking format is not yet widespread in Ukraine, I am very glad that events dedicated to a critically important strategic topic for the country – cooperation between science and business – are already taking place,” - Iryna Yaremchuk, Vice-Rector for Research at Lviv Polytechnic, emphasizing the significance of the format, when science and business can hear each other.
In the first part of the event, participants joined the presentations:
-About the tools and opportunities of European funding for scientists and business — Civitta partner - Yuriy Blavt told.
-How the LUKE project supports cooperation between Ukrainian and European scientific communities was told by Anastasia Kutsa, consultant at Civitta Ukraine.
The organizers noted high interest in the event - both from Ukrainian researchers and businesses, which emphasizes the growing role of innovations based on scientific research for the long-term economic development of the country.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to network and discuss, interactively, the needs, initiatives, competencies, and barriers to science and business cooperation in Ukraine, laying the foundation for further development of recommendations on this topic.
During the matchmaking session, the event participants found potential co-researchers in the fields of rehabilitation, cognitive linguistics, digital platforms for creating consortia and eco-projects, and also gained access to tools for participating in international programs.
“Participation in the matchmaking session was as productive as possible for us. We held several substantive meetings with partners from Kharkiv, Lviv Polytechnic, and the Veterinary University, outlining potential areas of cooperation. Our project focuses on developing practical recommendations for combating the invasive Borscht Sosnovsky - an environmental problem that directly affects the agricultural sector. The initiative is implemented in conjunction with the Horizon project, which enhances its scientific and applied value. In parallel, we work with farmers to implement the principles of smart agriculture: efficient use of waste, energy production, and soil restoration. Together, these solutions create a significant practical effect for both the ecosystem and agribusiness.", - Igor Vuytsyk, Head of the Lviv Agrarian Chamber
The event "Formula for Success: Science + Business" proved that it is precisely such meetings that accelerate the emergence of applied solutions - from medical innovations to smart agricultural technologies - and open the way to European financing and scaling of Ukrainian projects.
